Heat exchangers are primarily used for the following applications:

A heat exchanger is a device that transfers part of the thermal energy from a hot fluid to a cold fluid; it is also referred to as a heat exchange apparatus. Heat exchangers are widely used: radiators for space heating, condensers in steam turbine systems, and oil coolers on spacecraft—all are examples of heat exchangers. They are also extensively employed in industries such as chemical processing, petroleum, power generation, and nuclear energy. Their primary function is to maintain the specific temperature required by the process for the working fluids, while simultaneously enhancing efficiency. Heat exchangers may serve as standalone units—such as heaters, coolers, or condensers—or they may be integral components of larger process equipment, for instance, the heat exchangers within an ammonia synthesis tower.

The Development of Heat Exchangers

A heat exchanger is an energy-saving device that facilitates heat transfer between two or more fluids at different temperatures. It enables heat to be transferred from a higher‑temperature fluid to a lower‑temperature one, bringing the fluid temperatures up to the specified process requirements and thereby meeting process‑related needs. At the same time, it is one of the key pieces of equipment for improving energy efficiency. The heat exchanger industry spans nearly 30 sectors, including HVAC, reclaimed water treatment, chemical engineering, and petroleum, forming an interconnected industrial chain. According to data, in 2010 China’s heat exchanger market was valued at approximately RMB 50 billion, with the majority of demand concentrated in the petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, power, shipbuilding, and district heating sectors.

The function of a blade switch

2. A switch can simultaneously handle data transmission between multiple port pairs. Each port functions as an independent network segment, and the network devices connected to it enjoy the full bandwidth without having to share it with other devices. When node A sends data to node D, node B can concurrently send data to node C, and both transmissions utilize the network’s full bandwidth, each establishing its own virtual connection. 3. A switch features a high‑bandwidth backplane bus and an internal switching matrix. All of the switch’s ports are connected to this backplane, and upon receiving a data packet, the control circuitry consults the memory to determine the appropriate port for forwarding.

What is a heat exchanger?

A heat exchanger is a device that transfers part of the thermal energy from a hot fluid to a cold fluid; it is also referred to as a heat exchange apparatus. Heat exchangers are ubiquitous pieces of equipment in the chemical, petroleum, power, food, and many other industrial sectors, playing a crucial role in production processes. In chemical manufacturing, they serve as heaters, coolers, condensers, evaporators, and reboilers, among other functions, making them even more widely used. Although there are numerous types of heat exchangers, based on the principles and modes of heat transfer between hot and cold fluids, they can be broadly classified into three main categories: shell-and-tube, direct-contact, and regenerative. Among these three types, shell-and-tube heat exchangers are the most commonly employed.

What is a plate heat exchanger?

A plate heat exchanger is a highly efficient heat exchanger composed of a stack of metal plates with specific corrugated profiles. Thin rectangular channels are formed between the plates, enabling heat transfer through them. Plate heat exchangers are ideal for heat exchange between liquids, as well as between liquids and vapors. They feature high heat-transfer efficiency, minimal heat loss, a compact and lightweight structure, a small footprint, broad applicability, and a long service life. Under the same pressure-drop conditions, their overall heat-transfer coefficient is 3 to 5 times higher than that of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, while occupying significantly less space. Plate heat exchangers are mainly available in two major types: frame-type (removable) and brazed-type. The plate configurations are predominantly herringbone‑corrugated.
