They are also extensively employed in industries such as chemical processing, petroleum, power generation, and nuclear energy. Their primary function is to maintain the specific temperature required by the process for the working fluids, while simultaneously enhancing efficiency. Heat exchangers may serve as standalone units—such as heaters, coolers, or condensers—or they may be integral components of larger process equipment, for instance, the heat exchangers within an ammonia synthesis tower.
